The venue is family-friendly, open Wednesday to Sunday from midday, and built for everything from a quick afternoon pint to a long shared table with mates.

When we set out to bring Mountain Culture south, we weren’t interested in shipping pallets across Bass Strait and calling it a day. Hobart deserved a proper home, with locally brewed beer, a kitchen built for sharing, and a taproom that feels lived-in from the very first pint. That’s exactly what we’ve created at 105 Murray Street, our first Tasmanian venue and one of the most exciting new additions to the Hobart pub scene.
A New Home in the Heart of Hobart
Tucked into Murray Street, our Hobart taproom sits inside one of the city’s most walkable precincts, a few minutes from Salamanca, the waterfront, and the Hobart CBD’s best laneways. The location matters to us. We wanted to be embedded in the daily rhythm of the city, somewhere locals could drop in after work and visitors could stumble onto without trying too hard.
The space itself carries the same energy that defines our other venues. Industrial bones, warm timber, plenty of room to gather, and a long bar that puts the beer right where it should be: front and centre. At the end of the day, we just want to be your favourite spot for a good beer and a good pub feed in the heart of Tasmania. There’s a reason people keep telling us it feels like Mountain Culture has been here for years. We designed it that way.
Beer Brewed on Tasmanian Soil
If you’ve only ever tried our beer from a can, the taproom is where things change. Every drop poured at Murray Street travels straight from our brewing facility in Moonah, just a short drive north of the CBD. That means the freshest possible version of every beer we make, including the Tassie-exclusive limited releases that only exist here.
Our core range is always on, so you’ll find tap-fresh pours of crowd favourites like the Status Quo Pale Ale, the Aussie Premium Lager, and our Juice Trip Hazy Series. Then there’s the rotating board of small-batch experiments, seasonal one-offs, and Tasmania-only brews that change with what our brewers are excited about that week. It’s the kind of tap list that rewards regulars and gives first-timers a reason to come back.

A Kitchen That Earns Its Place at the Table
Great beer deserves great food, and our Hobart kitchen takes that seriously. The menu is built around the kind of dishes that make sharing easy and ordering decisions hard. Think loaded sliders, crispy bites, wings by the kilo, and our signature MC Cheeseburger, which has quietly become one of the most-ordered items on any Mountain Culture menu in the country.
Vegetarians are well looked after with our Buffalo Cauliflower, and our Frickles, golden, crunchy, served with chipotle mayo, are the kind of side that disappears before the mains arrive. There are gluten-free options across the menu, and we’re always happy to flex for dietary needs when our team knows in advance. Wherever we can, our kitchen leans on Tasmanian produce, and the result is a restaurant menu that feels equal parts neighbourhood pub and proper sit-down restaurant.
Why It Stands Out Among Pubs in Hobart
Hobart has no shortage of quality pubs. What we’ve tried to add to the mix is a venue that pulls together the best of a brewery, a kitchen, and a neighbourhood pub in one place. There aren’t many spots where you can drink a beer brewed less than ten kilometres away, eat smoker-driven pub food, and bring the dog along for the ride. Pubs in Hobart are part of the city’s identity, and we’re proud to have a seat at that table.
We’re also one of the few venues in the city where every pour is independent, locally produced, and tied directly to the people behind the bar. There’s no middleman. The brewers, the bar team, and the kitchen all share the same goal of making sure your visit is worth telling someone else about.
Plan Your Visit

Whether you’re catching up with mates after work, settling in for a long lunch, or showing visiting family the best of what the city has to offer, Mountain Culture in Hobart is built for it. We’re open Wednesday through Sunday from midday until late, so there’s plenty of room in your week to drop by. Booking ahead is a smart move on weekends, especially when the limited releases drop and the room fills quickly.
Come thirsty, come hungry, and come ready to settle in. The beer is fresh, the kitchen is firing, and the Hobart team can’t wait to pour you a pint.
Mountain Culture Hobart FAQs
What days and hours is Mountain Culture Hobart open?
Our Hobart taproom is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 PM until late. We’re closed Monday and Tuesday so the team can rest, restock, and make sure every shift we open for is the best version of itself.
Is the venue family-friendly?
Children are welcome at Mountain Culture Hobart, and there’s plenty of space for prams and high chairs. We recommend earlier sittings for younger kids, when the room is at its most relaxed.
Do you offer takeaway beer from the Hobart venue?
You can grab cans, four-packs, and limited releases straight from our taproom fridge to take home. Stock rotates regularly, so the takeaway shelf is often the first place to spot a new release before it hits the wider Tassie market.
Do you host private events or large group bookings?
Our Hobart taproom can accommodate larger groups, work functions, birthdays, and informal celebrations. For groups of ten or more, we recommend reaching out via our website or by emailing the Hobart team directly so we can lock in the right space and pre-order options.
How do I get to Mountain Culture Hobart on public transport?
We’re located at 105 Murray Street, an easy walk from most central Hobart bus stops and within strolling distance of the waterfront precinct. Rideshare drops you right at the door, and there are several public car parks within a few blocks if you’d prefer to drive in.
Is the venue accessible?
Our Hobart taproom is wheelchair accessible at the main entrance and through the bar and dining area. If your group has specific accessibility requirements, let us know when you book and we’ll set things up to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
Do you cater to dietary requirements?
Our menu includes gluten-free and vegetarian dishes, and our team is happy to talk through ingredients with anyone managing a specific allergy or intolerance. Please flag dietary needs with staff when you order so the kitchen can take extra care.
Will the Hobart venue have its own merchandise?
Alongside our national merch range, we drop the occasional Hobart-only design celebrating Tassie-specific releases and milestones. Keep an eye on the merch wall when you visit, the limited runs tend to move quickly.
