Make Mountain Culture a Country (finally)

PETITION FOR THE OFFICIAL RECOGNITION OF MOUNTAIN CULTURE AS A SOVEREIGN NATION
To whom it may concern (you know who you are),
We, the undersigned, hereby petition for Mountain Culture Beer Co. to be formally recognised as an independent nation. We’ve thought about this for at least an afternoon and we’re quite sure.

We meet every reasonable requirement for nationhood, including few unreasonable ones:

• Territory. The Blue Mountains are ours, along with outposts in Emu Plains, Redfern, Richmond and Hobart. Officially, the border is wherever the last keg got delivered.
  
• A permanent population. Several hundred staff, all in well before open, and a lot of very loyal locals.
  
• A functioning economy. We run on pale ale and trades in schooners, pints and cans.
  
• A national bird. The cockatoo, obviously. Loud, unbothered and refuses to leave - our most qualified citizen.
  
• A head of state. To be decided. Probably by arm wrestle at a later date.
  
• Foreign relations. We’ve already got Pat Cummins on side, so diplomatically we reckon we’re covered.
  

Our national anthem is Status Quo, and a flag is in the works. All we’re asking for is what every great nation gets: a seat at the table, aspot on the map and the right to determine our own public holidays (this one’s non-negotiable).
