Tasman IPA The Series: Beer 1 of 4

If you're thinking we just made up a new beer style and called it Tasman IPA, you're right, we did. Tasman IPAs are everything we love about West Coast IPAs, spliced together with the drinkability and dry hopping regime of Triple Dry Hopped NEIPAs. "Tasman IPA" is a nod to the pristine hop growing regions across the Tasman Sea and DJ’s adventures during his annual Boxing Day race across the Tasman.

The science bit: Tasman IPAs have reduced kettle hop additions, thus reducing base bitterness. The dry hops are added individually for predetermined contact times and completely removed before the next variety is added. This contact time, between 12-48 hours depending on hop variety, is considerably shorter than traditional IPAs. This creates an ultra clean hop profile.

The flavour bit: We've used our fave hops: Citra, Simcoe and Riwaka. Longer contact time for Citra and Simcoe give a rounded flavour base of citrus with a hint of pine, whilst the short, sizeable addition of Riwaka directly before crashing adds top notes of grapefruit and lime.
