At Mountain Culture's flagship brewpub in the heart of Katoomba, we have given Thursdays something worth showing up for. Every week, weather playing nice, we host Vinyl DJ Sets on the Deck, a rotating lineup of selectors pulling records from their own crates as the sun drops behind the ranges. From 6pm, the speakers warm up alongside the last of the daylight, and the deck becomes one of the best spots in the Blue Mountains to hear a proper vinyl DJ set under an open sky.

The Weekly Session

Vinyl DJ sets on the deck are simple by design, because the best Thursday nights usually are. Every week, weather playing nice, we line up a selector with a crate full of real records and let the sunset do the rest.

Our Thursday lineup is curated with care. We book vinyl DJs from across Sydney and the Blue Mountains, along with a handful of faces who have travelled further afield, and we give them the deck for the evening. The brief is simple: play what sounds right as the sun goes down over Katoomba.

Expect warm disco, dub reggae, downtempo, jazzy house, balearic cuts, and the occasional deep left turn. Some weeks lean breezy and melodic. Others lean weird and wonderful. Every week is different, because every selector brings their own crate and their own read of the room. The Katoomba brewpub pours the full Mountain Culture range during every DJ session. That means the Status Quo Pale Ale, the Cult IPA, our Aussie Premium Lager, and whatever seasonal or limited release we have pouring that week, all brewed on-site by our team.

A Thursday on the deck is not complete without a plate in front of you. Our kitchen runs throughout the session, serving the same smoker-driven menu that has earned the Katoomba brewpub a following of its own.

The bar and deck are open to all on Thursday nights, walk-ins welcome, with no booking required for casual drinks. If you are rolling with a larger group or want to lock in a table for dinner first, we recommend reserving online through our website. The deck is first-come, first-served once doors open.
